Zed: Pros & Cons

Zed: Pros & Cons

List of Pros & Cons on Zed
Pros
- Zed is one of those champions with extremely high damage and outplays potential.
- Zed can 1v1 and out-damage almost all champions, therefore making him a great assassin and duelist.
- Zed has a good mix of attack speed, high damage, and relatively decent cooldowns.
- Zed can last hit minions and cannons easily, because of Contempt for the Weak and Razor Shuriken.
- Zed is an energy user, therefore he can afford to use his Razor Shuriken from a safe distance.
- Zed's high mobility and strong 1v1 kit allow him to split push and pressure from the sidelines.
- Zed can be unstoppable when he is snowballing hard, he also scales average into the late game.
- Zed has a strong escape with Living Shadow and Death Mark's shadow, plus slow from Shadow Slash.
- Zed is not tied down to a single build path, depending on team composition he can build very differently.
- Zed is a super satisfying champion when you start snowballing his lane while doing all those flashy plays.

Cons
- Better and skilled players can dodge your Razor Shuriken pretty easily.
- Death Mark's damage countered by Zhonya's Hourglass, Flash, Exhaust and Stopwatch, which is Zed's main source of damage.
- Zed will consume energy fairly quickly if spells are spammed mindlessly in quick succession.
- Zed doesn't bring much impact to long and lengthy team fights compared to other mid laners.
- Dynamic abilities like Living Shadow and Death Mark make him hard to play and understand.
- Zed can become borderline useless when fallen behind, as he is a burst assassin.
- Zed struggles during the early phase of the game if he is facing a ranged champion.
- One small mistake in his combos may mess up everything for a Zed player.
- Zed can be banned quite frequently in ranked games as he tends to be a Pick-or-Ban champion.
- Requires good decision making and quick thinking to outplay your opponent to get kills as damage are based on skill shots.

List of Abilities on Zed
Contempt for the Weak (Passive)
Description: Zed's basic attacks against targets below 50% maximum health deal 6 / 8 / 10% of target's maximum health as bonus magic damage. Contempt for the Weak can only affect the same target once every few seconds.
On-Target Cooldown: 10

Razor Shuriken (Q)
Description: Zed and his Shadows throw their spinning blades forward, each dealing physical damage to all enemies they pass through, reduced to 60% against units beyond the first.
Target Range: 900
Speed: 900
Cost: 75 / 70 / 65 / 60 / 55 Energy
Cooldown: 6
Physical Damage: 80 / 115 / 150 / 185 / 220 (+ 90% bonus AD)
Additional Secondary Damage: 48 / 69 / 90 / 111 / 132 (+ 54% bonus AD)

Living Shadow (W)
Description: On the first cast, Zed's Shadow dashes forward, remaining in place for 5 seconds and being able to mimic Razor Shuriken and Shadow Slash while within 1950 units of each other. Zed restores energy whenever a Shadow lands a mimicked ability on the same target he does. This may only happen once per cast ability. On Second Cast, while within 1300 units of each other, Zed and his Shadow blink to their respective locations, swapping places.
Target Range: 650
Speed: 1,750
Cost: 40 / 35 / 30 / 25 / 20 Energy
Cooldown: 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 / 14
Energy Restored: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50

Shadow Slash (E)
Description: Zed and his Shadows slash, dealing physical damage to surrounding enemies. This does not interrupt Zed's previous orders. Enemies hit by Shadow's Shadow Slash are slowed for 1.5 seconds. Enemies hit by multiple slashes take no additional damage but instead are slowed by a 50% stronger slow. Each enemy champion hit by Zed's slash reduces Living Shadow's cooldown by 2 seconds.
Effect Radius: 290
Cost: 50 Energy
Cooldown: 5 / 4.5 / 4 / 3.5 / 3
Physical Damage: 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 / 170 (+ 80% bonus AD)
Slow: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40%

Death Mark (R)
Description: On first cast, Zed vanishes for 0.75 seconds during which he goes through the target enemy champion, marking them, becoming ghosted for 3 seconds, and spawning Shadow at the cast location which lasts for 6 seconds. After 0.5 seconds of his reappearance he can activate Death Mark Shadow. For the next 3 seconds, the mark stores a percentage of all pre-mitigation physical and magic damage Zed deals to the target, detonating at the end of the duration to deal physical damage. On second cast, regardless of distance between each other, Zed and the Death Mark's Shadow blink to their respective locations, swapping places.

Scoring a takedown on a marked target or with the detonation of the mark permanently grants Zed bonus attack damage. The bonus gets replaced if Zed scores a takedown on a bigger valued target. While Death Mark is not on cooldown, targets who will increase this bonus are marked with a shuriken above their heads, with larger shurikens giving larger bonuses.
Target Range: 625
Cooldown: 120 / 90 / 60
Bonus AD: 5 (+ 5 / 10 / 15% of target's AD)
Physical Damage: 100% AD (+ 25 / 40 / 55% of damage dealt)
